Old Navy teamed up with NBA Hall-of-Fame superstar, Olympian, entrepreneur and philanthropist—Magic Johnson—to share the success stories of three inspiring graduates from the This Way ONward (TWO) program through a video miniseries launched today.
In the videos, each of the all-star TWO graduates share their personal experience in the program and how it impacted both their career and life path. Graduates like Daisy Tecotl, who grew her confidence and found her voice, landing the job of the visual merchandising whiz at Manhattan’s 18th and 6th store; Dashawn Hightower, a cancer survivor and family man, serving as a loss prevention agent at Cross Country in Yonkers, NY; and Karen Diosa, a General Manager in Brooklyn who shared how her time in the program helped her give back to her parents and put the compassion she learned from them into action. Little did they know that Magic Johnson would be listening behind-the-scenes to their emotional stories, ready to surprise the graduates and continue the conversation about how they beat the odds to come out on top.
“The program definitely molded me into the person I am today. I was the first This Way Onward graduate to become a General Manager, but I definitely don’t want to be the last.” – Karen Diosa, General Manager, Brooklyn
Through TWO, Old Navy is imagining a better future by giving the next generation the skills and confidence they need to succeed by providing 20,000 job opportunities by 2025. We are on a journey to become the world’s most inclusive brand, and we believe that opportunity shouldn’t just be for some, it should be for everyone.
