For 22 years, Athleta has been dedicated to empowering all women and girls through movement and connection. Today, the brand put its mission into action with a $2 million contribution to establish the Power of She Fund. In partnership with the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF), Athleta will kick off a grant program this Fall to financially support incredible organizations keeping women and girls connected through movement.
“We are channeling our mission into impact with the creation of the Power of She Fund. The Athleta brand and our business is centered on the power of the female collective,” said Mary Beth Laughton, Athleta President and CEO. “I’m so proud our team has come together with the Women’s Sports Foundation to help women and girls reach their limitless potential not just in sport, but in everything they do.”
The Women’s Sports Foundation, founded by Billie Jean King in 1974, is the ally, advocate and catalyst for tomorrow’s leaders. The organization strengthens and expands participation and leadership opportunities for women and girls through research, advocacy, community programming and a wide variety of collaborative partnerships. The Women’s Sports Foundation has positively shaped the lives of millions of youth, high school and collegiate student-athletes, elite athletes and coaches.
“Our vision at the Women’s Sports Foundation is to unlock the possibilities in every girl and woman through the power of sport and movement,” said Deborah Antoine, Women’s Sports Foundation CEO. “We are proud and grateful to partner with Athleta on this impactful new Fund. Like us, Athleta understands the limitless potential of girls and women to flourish through physical activity. We all believe in the Power of She!”
