At Old Navy, everyone is family, and we love hearing stories about how our brand has become a part of our customers’ lives and family traditions.
One customer story that pulled on our heart-strings all centered around one family’s annual 4
th of July celebration and an amazing woman who found a beautiful way to commemorate their love and tradition.
In 1998, the Vogel-Armstrong family dressed every family member in Old Navy flag tees for their Fourth of July get-together. Well, the tradition stuck, and every Fourth of July since then has included an Old Navy flag tee for everyone in the family. Over the years, the family continued to grow – new spouses, new babies – and that turned into a whole lot of flag tees.
When family matriarch, Peggy Armstrong, was diagnosed with a recurrence of breast cancer in 2012, she was determined to create a lasting tribute to all the years of Fourth of July memories. So she created a quilt made entirely of all those Old Navy flag tees — a handcrafted tribute to happy memories and those she loved most.
Peggy passed away in 2017, but the family tradition continues. On this Fourth, the Vogel-Armstrongs will put on their Old Navy flag tees and remember her with love. The quilt she made is a treasured family keepsake … and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of their tradition.
