Gap Inc.
February 9, 2022
In October of 2021, Gap Inc. announced a company-wide movement to support and develop creative talent with a specific focus on design teams. The question was this: how can we feed the creative soul of this company and deepen our competitive moat; shedding the past and investing toward a future where Creating with Audacity is the top value?
Today, Create With Audacity is not just a core value that guides us at Gap Inc., but it is also a movement that supports Gap Inc. creatives in accessing, engaging in, and realizing their individual, diverse and collective power. It is being led by Sarah Holme, Old Navy’s executive vice president of design, visual merchandising and styling, in partnership with design leaders from across Gap Inc.’s portfolio of iconic brands.
The Business of Fashion recently caught up with Sarah and designers from Gap, Banana Republic and Athleta to hear more about how Gap Inc. is investing in and building design talent, and to get a behind-the-scenes look at how our teams are designing for the future.
“It’s highly motivating to enable initiatives such as our Create With Audacity movement. The idea is to challenge conventional methods of design thinking and to expand the team’s creative lens, investing and nurturing our creative talent to be inspired and to be inspiring. We have brands with a strong heritage that are loved and trusted by our customers. Couple that with design intuition, creative confidence and talent, I believe we are positioned to grow while breaking into untapped areas and categories.”
