Describe a typical day for you at work.
My team manages the
transportation of fixtures, construction materials and other supplies for our
brands' international and domestic stores. This includes supporting new
stores, remodels, retrofits, rollouts, store closures and facility moves. In
addition, we handle merchandise shipping via air and ocean for offshore
markets such as Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico.
What do you like about your job?
I love learning all about the
global aspects of business; it's been great to have the opportunity to
understand our business outside of domestic merchandise. I also enjoy
partnering with vendors on transportation procedures and processes, working
with Store Services and Strategic Sourcing on transportation requirements,
developing SLAs (service-level agreements) and forecasts, investigating our
carrier network to ensure appropriate capacity, pricing and service,
understanding brand requirements for offshore markets and working out
third-party sourcing issues.
What do you like about working at Gap Inc.?
I've worked at Gap
Inc. for more than 20 years. During this time I've managed a Gap store,
departments within a distribution center, outlet transfers, a supply facility,
a National Recovery Center facility and now Specialized Transportation. Gap
Inc. offers so many different facets of experience within one company — it's
people-oriented, and in all my time here, I’ve experienced continual growth
and learning.
